Water Tanks For Agriculture

Tanks designed for Australian conditions

Our agricultural water tanks are designed and manufactured in Australian for the harsh climates our land constantly delivers. Long lasting, good looking, farm tough.

Quality Australian made water tanks.

How much water can you harvest from your roof?

When storing water for agricultural purposes, you may often be harvesting this water from dams, bores or other sources.

However, most farms have homes and sheds more than large enough to fill a significantly sized water tank. Calculate how much water you can harvest here.

Eliminate unwanted water loss from evaporation

There are more than two million dams holding water across rural Australia, which while vital and practical for large scale storage and capture, can lose up to 50% of their stored water in the drier months.

Pioneer keeps your water safe from the sun

Agricultural water tanks can ensure your water security during dry periods by preventing evaporation, and keeping your stored water safe from UV rays that can lead to algal blooms.

We put steel where your tank needs it most

Agricultural Water Tank FAQs

Are your tanks suitable for irrigation purposes?

Yes, our agricultural water tanks are manufactured and built for all sorts of applications and they will handle the rigours of irrigation.

What setup do you recommend for an irrigation tank?

We recommend using a bottom inlet. When you fill from a bottom inlet you should be pushing into a volume of water, water levels simply rise and fall, and there’s no splashing. You might be thinking there’s a lot of water inside pushing back into your inlet, that’s not the case.

When you send water to the top of a two-metre water tank you have two metres of head pressure. With this in mind, if the water level inside your tank is sitting at one metre you have one metre of head pressure, two metres equals two metres of head pressure and so on.

Do you offer tanks that can take water from bores, dams & rivers?

If you are taking water from a dam or bore, we recommend (where possible) that you install your inlet at the bottom wall of your water tank.

It might seem unusual but the best water tank performance comes from bottom inlets. If your water is coming from a roof we recommend the standard roof lead filter basket.

Do you offer tanks for my home on a farm?

Yes, we can provide you with a water tank that has facilities ready to take on water harvested off a roof.

How much space will I need for my water tank?

This depends, of course, on the size of the water tank that you are looking to install for your home. Once you know what size tank you are looking to install, it is a safe rule of thumb to make sure you have a space at least 3 metres wider than the diameter of your desired water tank.

This not only safely ensures room for the required 1 metre of space on all sides of the tank for the sand pad, but prevents any other difficulties at the time of installation.

How long will it take for my water tank to be installed?

Thanks to Pioneer’s Dealer Direct network, with over 50 water tank dealers Australia wide, we try and make installing water tanks as efficient and effective as possible. One of our household rainwater tanks is typically installed within 3 to 5 weeks of your order being placed.

If special circumstances do however require any rainwater tanks to be installed in less time than that, if you give us a call we can endeavour to have your water tank at your home and installed as soon as possible.

What items are made locally?

Pioneer guarantee the following items are made right here in Australia; tank wall panels, roof trusses, truss foot, roof sheets, access hatch, hook on ladder, AQUALINER FRESH® tank liner (both the base fabric and the fusion welded liner).

Some of the items are manufactured right here in our factory and others by our local supporters. Our steel is made in Australia and supplied by BlueScope Steel.

Do you want bacteria in your water? I don’t! It’s drinking water. Do you want your kids eating or drinking mould? I don’t. But that’s what I’ve got in those tanks, a bacteria fighting lining, it’s genius.
Shane Jacobson
We like to do things very naturally, which is why we appreciate the beauty of fresh rainwater. I don’t like plastic, and I only ever want to supply our customers with clean, quality water.
David Ritchie
That steel is a big part of the reason why we went with Pioneer Water Tanks. The Colorbond® colours also matched up perfectly with the house – which we had recently painted Woodland Grey. We chose this colour as we wanted the house to blend seamlessly into the beautiful natural rural environment.
Jamie Adamson
We knew we needed a huge tank to accommodate all our water usage due to no mains supply. This will initially be for the whole house, and for the garden if we have any left over. Dan had a good idea of how big this tank would be, but I couldn’t believe it when it was installed! It’s massive!
