With drought severely impacting crops and the livestock industries, the Australian and state governments are working together to offer rebates for on-farm water infrastructure expenses, which includes the installation of rainwater tanks.
The scheme is designed to assist primary producers in drought-affected areas, with a total funding allocation of $50 million over three years, starting in the 2018/19 financial year.
Eligible farmers can access a 25% rebate, up to $25,000, for new purchases and installation costs related to on-farm water infrastructure, helping them provide water to livestock or permanent horticulture plantings during the current drought and better prepare for future dry conditions.
