The Largest & Most Advanced Storage Tank Designed for Sand Foundations

Pioneer Water Tanks are designed to save customers money by eliminating the need for costly concrete ring beam foundations.

Through innovative engineering, Pioneer has developed tank solutions that significantly reduce the purchase costs typically associated with large-scale water storage—particularly tanks with capacities around one million litres.

Putting the steel where it matters most

The Pioneer V-LOCK® wall profile has been expertly designed by Pioneer Water Tanks’ engineering team to deliver long-lasting durability and strength.

Unlike some water tank companies that rely solely on overall steel thickness, Pioneer’s design strategically places steel where it matters most—ensuring superior structural integrity without unnecessary weight.

Farm Water Tank FAQs

Are your tanks suitable for irrigation purposes?

Yes, Pioneer water tanks are expertly manufactured for a wide range of applications and are built to withstand the demands of irrigation. Designed for durability and reliability, they provide a dependable water storage solution for farms, agriculture, and commercial use.

Do you offer tanks for my home on a farm?

Yes, we can supply a water tank equipped with the necessary fittings to efficiently collect and store rainwater harvested from your roof. Our tanks are designed for seamless integration with your existing catchment system, ensuring optimal water collection and storage.

What setup do you recommend for an irrigation tank?

If you’re sourcing water from a dam or bore, we recommend installing your inlet at the bottom wall of your water tank whenever possible.

While it may seem unconventional, bottom inlets provide optimal tank performance by improving water circulation and reducing sediment buildup.

For roof-harvested water, we suggest using the standard roof lead filter basket to ensure effective filtration and clean water storage.

Why is a bottom inlet helpful?

Top inlets can create small wave actions on the water’s surface when filling the tank, occasionally causing splashing into the roof area.

To prevent this and ensure better water management, it’s best to avoid top inlets when possible and consider bottom inlets for improved tank performance.

What other steps should I consider with a bottom inlet?

Filling your tank through a bottom inlet allows water to flow smoothly into the existing volume, causing the water level to rise and fall without splashing—unlike top inlets that can create turbulence.

You might wonder whether the water inside pushes back into the inlet, but that’s not the case. The pressure at the inlet is determined by the head pressure inside the tank.

For example:

  • If your water level is at one metre, you have one metre of head pressure.
  • At two metres, you have two metres of head pressure, and so on.

This means the higher the water level, the greater the pressure, ensuring a consistent and efficient fill process.

Do you have a gutter system for your tank?

No, in over 30 years of experience, we’ve encountered only a small number of cases where roof area was insufficient for effective water collection.

If you’re unsure about your catchment capacity, contact our expert consultants for personalised advice and solutions tailored to your needs.

What features come with my water tank?

Pioneer offer a comprehensive range of premium features, ensuring durability and optimal performance for your water tank:

✔ AQUALINER FRESH® antimicrobial tank liner
✔ Double fusion-welded liner seams for superior strength
✔ Adaptive swivel foot roof truss connector for enhanced structural integrity
✔ Heavy-duty roof access hatch for secure entry
✔ External hook-on ladder for easy access
✔ 80mm overflow for efficient drainage
✔ 80mm outlet and valve (multiple available if required)
✔ 50mm inlet for smooth water intake

Designed for strength, longevity, and convenience, Pioneer Water Tanks are built to perform in the toughest conditions.

Do you want bacteria in your water? I don’t! It’s drinking water. Do you want your kids eating or drinking mould? I don’t. But that’s what I’ve got in those tanks, a bacteria fighting lining, it’s genius.

We like to do things very naturally, which is why we appreciate the beauty of fresh rainwater. I don’t like plastic, and I only ever want to supply our customers with clean, quality water.
David Ritchie
That steel is a big part of the reason why we went with Pioneer Water Tanks. The Colorbond® colours also matched up perfectly with the house – which we had recently painted Woodland Grey. We chose this colour as we wanted the house to blend seamlessly into the beautiful natural rural environment.
Jamie Adamson
We knew we needed a huge tank to accommodate all our water usage due to no mains supply. This will initially be for the whole house, and for the garden if we have any left over. Dan had a good idea of how big this tank would be, but I couldn’t believe it when it was installed! It’s massive!
