For over 30 years, Pioneer Water Tanks have proven their durability in some of Australia’s toughest regions.

Stock Water Tank FAQ's

Are your tanks suitable for cattle stations?

Pioneer Water Tanks are manufactured and built to meet the demands of various applications, including the tough conditions found on cattle stations. These durable tanks are designed to handle the rigorous environment of farming and agricultural use with ease.

Can your liner handle artesian water?

Pioneer Water Tanks features one of the most advanced tank liners on the market. The AQUALINER FRESH® tank liner can withstand water temperatures up to 70 degrees Celsius. Additionally, Pioneer fusion-welds the liner seams twice (doubled welded seams) to ensure ultimate reliability and durability in water storage.

Can you install your water tanks in the outback?

Pioneer Water Tanks is the only water tank company with a truly national dealer network that spans across Australia. Through the Pioneer Dealer Direct® network, Pioneer can install water tanks anywhere, ensuring reliable service and coverage.

For larger, more complex projects requiring a significant number of water tanks, Pioneer can deploy its own team, with extensive experience in handling large-scale tank installations worldwide. Each year, Pioneer Water Tanks installs hundreds of tanks across northern Australia.

What after-service do I receive?

With Pioneer Water Tanks, you’re backed by a 20-year warranty and supported by the local expertise and service of the Pioneer Dealer Direct® network. With over 30 years of experience, Pioneer’s after-sales service is unmatched, ensuring you have the support you need, when you need it.

If I need one tank or multiple water tanks, how long does it take you to manufacture?

With some of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the country, Pioneer Water Tanks ensures short lead times by using only Australian-made products. Contact us to find out how quickly we can manufacture your tank. We are committed to meeting your specific needs.

Do you offer tanks that can take water from bores, dams and rivers?

Pioneer Water Tanks can provide you with a tank that is equipped to handle water from most water sources, ensuring versatility and reliability for your water storage needs.

What set up do you recommend for a cattle tank?

If you’re drawing water from a bore, dam, or river, it is recommended (where possible) to install the water inlet at the bottom wall of the tank. While it might seem unusual, bottom inlets provide the best performance for your water tank. If necessary, a top inlet can be used as a last resort.

For the best solution tailored to your needs, contact our consultants to discuss your options.

Why is a bottom inlet helpful?

Top inlets can create small wave actions on the water surface when water enters the tank, which may cause splashing into the roof area. To avoid this, it’s recommended to use a bottom inlet where possible.

When filling from a bottom inlet, water is pushed into an existing volume of water, causing the levels to simply rise and fall without splashing. It may seem like a large volume of water is pushing back into the inlet, but this is not the case.

What other steps should I consider with a bottom inlet?

When water is sent to the top of a two-metre water tank, it creates two metres of head pressure. Similarly, if the water level inside the tank sits at one metre, you have one metre of head pressure. For each additional metre of water level, the corresponding head pressure increases accordingly.

What features come with my rain water tank?

Pioneer Water Tanks come with a comprehensive range of features, including the AQUALINER Fresh® tank liner, double fusion-welded liner seams, adaptive swivel foot roof truss connector, roof access hatch, external hook-on ladder, 80mm overflow, 80mm outlet and valve (multiple if required), and a 50mm inlet.

Why you’re better off with a larger water tank

Do you want bacteria in your water? I don’t! It’s drinking water. Do you want your kids eating or drinking mould? I don’t. But that’s what I’ve got in those tanks, a bacteria fighting lining, it’s genius.

We like to do things very naturally, which is why we appreciate the beauty of fresh rainwater. I don’t like plastic, and I only ever want to supply our customers with clean, quality water.

That steel is a big part of the reason why we went with Pioneer Water Tanks. The Colorbond® colours also matched up perfectly with the house – which we had recently painted Woodland Grey. We chose this colour as we wanted the house to blend seamlessly into the beautiful natural rural environment.

We knew we needed a huge tank to accommodate all our water usage due to no mains supply. This will initially be for the whole house, and for the garden if we have any left over. Dan had a good idea of how big this tank would be, but I couldn’t believe it when it was installed! It’s massive!
